Egypt is a transcontinental country, with most of its area in northern Africa, and a portion of it on the Sinai peninsula which forms a land bridge in southeast Asia. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, Israel, the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and Libya.
