BELIZE

Belize is in Central America. It shares the Yucatan Peninsula with Mexico. Guatemala and Honduras are its other immediate neighbors. It began its note-issuing era as British Honduras, with Belize as the capital city. British authority ended in 1964 but it was thirty years later before British troops withdrew permanently. Like many Central American countries Belize has nurtured its tourist industry in search of the "Yankee Dollar".
